The search lights and red carpet will be brought out next week at the Mariner Theater in Marine City for the premiere of the documentary “the Great Alone”. The film documents the journey of a sled dog racer in the Iditarod; a 1,000 mile race from Anchorage, in south central Alaska, to Nome on the western Bering Sea coast. The film has won every film festival it’s been entered in, says Gary Kohs owner of the theater, and father of the film maker. Besides the documentary premiering, Kohs says the 48-seat theater plays classic movies as well, such as Gone With Wind and Abbott and Costello films. The film premieres on February 9th. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the theater’s website: marinertheater.net .
