President Barack Obama came to Detroit Wednesday to visit the North American International Auto Show and to the tout the recovery of the auto industry. After having lunch with Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and touring the NAIAS, the president spoke to a room full of United Auto Workers at the UAW-General Motors Center for Human Resources. He says when he came into office his administration demanded responsibility from the failing auto industry in exchange for federal help. Obama says after some retooling, things got better. And, he says, after visiting auto plants across the Midwest and seeing what has been done first hand, he would make that same bet again adding that the auto industry is back. Obama also talked about how he would be losing his car when his term is up, so he came to Detroit to shop for a new ride.
