The former owner and operator of WPHM and two other local area radio stations has passed away. Lee Hanson of Hanson Communications died Thursday after a long illness. He took over the helm of WPHM in 1986 and added WBTI as well as what was then known as WSMA to the roster. The three stations were later sold to Liggett Communications in 2000. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday and 1-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, 912 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in First Presbyterian Church, 811 Wall Street, Port Huron with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. The Reverend Jason E. Pittman will officiate. Hanson was 84.
