Leaf pickup

If you live in Port Huron and still have leaves out front, don't worry the Department of Public Works is working to clear the remaining leaves. Port Huron's Leaf Pickup Program is well underway, with almost half of the city already done. DPW Engineering and Transportation Manager David Smith says to avoid raking the leaves into the street as it will clog the catch basins, which costs more money to clear. Winter is almost here as well and Smith noted that parking restrictions are coming up soon. Make sure you keep your sidewalks shoveled and keep fire hydrants clear, to avoid being fined. If you are in need of large brush or branch pickup, call 984-9751 to schedule a pickup from the curb for $40.
