City and township elections were held Tuesday and turnout was low compared to previous years. Around 21% of registered voters in Marysville voted on Tuesday's election. Five candidates were vying for three city council seats with Rita Hendricks, Paul Wessel, and Kathy Hayman receiving the most votes. Council member Mike Buggy, who has served on the council for two years, failed to win re-election. Voters in Marysville also rejected an advisory question on whether or not the city should build a new Municipal Campus. In Saint Clair voters turned down a road millage and increase asking that City Clerk Annette Study says was close across much of the city. Also in Fort Gratiot Twp. voters approved a millage increase to fund police services through the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department. A special recall election was also held in Cottreville Twp., where voters recalled Supervisor Kelly Fiscelli, and Clerk Lori Russelburg. Angie Viola will serve out the remaining term of Clerk, as will Mary Agens Simons as Supervisor.
