A hospital in Port Huron will be given a new name today. The St. Joseph Mercy Hospital is now Lake Huron Medical Center, the formal announcement was made this week noting that the sale of the hospital has been approved. Prime Health Care out of California will be the new owner with Becky Smith as CEO and President of Lake Huron Medical Center, the same post she held at St. Joseph Mercy. The sale followed a review by the State Attorney General and assurances from Prime on some $20 million in capital investments as well as the continuation on operations at the People's Clinic for Better Health. Prime is expected to invest the some on capital improvements including the addition of a true beam linear accelerator for the nationally recognized cancer center that is already in place.
