Where were you born and raised?
Born in Detroit and raised in Sterling Heights.
Married? Kids? Animals?
Married to my lovely wife, Therese, since 2003. Our beautiful son, Owen, was born in 2007. We inherited our Silky Terrier/Maltese mix, Fritzie, as a one year old in 2012. She’s my pal.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spending time with my wife and son is always good. I’m not a very skilled marksman but I enjoy skeet shooting. I’m an avid music lover. I’m a pro wrestling enthusiast. Watching, not participating. Save the wisecracks.
So, so many. I’ve seen my favorite band, Bon Jovi, in concert every time they’ve come to town since 1987. They always put on a good show. Trace Adkins at McMorran. Gary Allan at Motor City Casino. Prince at Detroit Opera House. Nirvana at the State Fair Grounds. Steve Perry at Fox Theatre. Springsteen at The Palace.
I can make do anyplace that also serves alcohol.
The Godfather movies. Scarface. Tombstone. The last Batman trilogy. True Romance.
Favorite TV Shows.
Justified. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. WWE Raw. Reruns of Good Times.
The Dark Stuff by Nick Kent. The Dirt by Motley Crue & Neil Strauss. The Long Hard Road Out of Hell by Marilyn Manson & Neil Strauss. Most of John Grisham’s stuff. Batman graphic novels.
Best advice for someone who wants to be in radio.
It’s not enough to just love music; you have to love the business of radio to enjoy it and be successful at it. And don’t rule out a career in radio if you’re not suited to be “on-air”. There are plenty of interesting jobs behind the scenes that are just as fulfilling.
Memorable On-Air moment.
When I worked at Sports Radio 1130 WDFN in Detroit I was lucky enough to host a pro wrestling talk show for a couple of years and got to interview a bunch of the biggest stars in wrestling. I met The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Interviewed guys like John Cena, CM Punk, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, The Iron Sheik, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Bruno Sammartino, Daniel Bryan and a ton of others.
What do you like best about working at Q Country?
Well, I like it so much that this is my second tour of duty here! I was the afternoon drive-time host when I left in 2002 to work in Detroit. Came back in 2014 and feel super fortunate to be working with some of the nicest people I’ve known, doing the best live and local radio anywhere for our awesome listeners!
