Superintendent Ron Wollen

And the search is on... that's for the Port Huron Area School District Board of Education as they choose the Michigan Association of School Boards as the organization to aid in their quest to replace Superintendent Ron Wollen, who'll be retiring at the end of the current school year.  The action came Monday night, at the board's regular meeting, with the MASB described as a non-profit group.  Board President, Jeff Stout, says if they don't find a suitable replacement for Wollen, they'll scrap the process and start over. The board began their regular meeting with an organizational session, which saw Stout re-elected president, with Rasha Demashkieh re-elected Vice President, Ann Murphy re-elected as Secretary, and Garth Kriewall re-elected Treasurer.  Last night's session also saw a curriculum report on Port Huron High School, with Stout noting that great improvements had been made in several key basic core subjects at the school, with double-digit progress seen.  Today sees the board meeting for a special session which will see data reviews and reports on the various schools in the district.
