TOURIST KIOSK CONCEPT EXPANDS

The informational tourist kiosks that are planned for St. Clair County by the Blue Water Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Michigan Department of Transportation could see similar kiosks installed right up through the Thumb region as the Community Foundations of St. Clair County and Sanilac County, along with the Huron County Economic Development Corporation and the Sanilac Tourism Association attempt to raise funds for a kiosk pilot project.  Randy Maiers is the director of the local Community Foundation and says the budget for the two-year pilot project is about $12-thousand dollars, with half that amount already raised.  He says if they're successful in raising the rest, the kiosks could be installed by the late fall.  He says with tourism playing such an important role in all of the local economies in St. Clair, Sanilac and Huron counties it's necessary to do more to support tourism efforts along the coastline.
