MICHIGAN UNEMPLOYMENT RATES ROSE IN MAY

Seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates rose in 14 of Michigan’s 17 major labor market areas in May. According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, total employment and labor force levels increased seasonally in all 17 regions over the month. Spokesman, Michael Williams, says May unemployment rate increases throughout much of the state reflected a larger-than-normal influx of workers into local labor markets, but while many individuals did find seasonal jobs last month, not all found employment.
