OPEN MURDER CHARGE IN PORT HURON KNIFE ATTACK
A 52-year-old Port Huron resident was arraigned on a charge of open murder yesterday morning in connection with the throat slashing death on Friday of a 26 year old city resident. Suspect, Michael Shawn Poole, will face a preliminary examination later this month. The incident began Friday evening at approximately 10:50pm when several people where sitting around a bonfire in the 600-block of Stanton Street, including the victim and suspect. Witnesses indicated that the two men had been involved in a dispute throughout the day and the two engaged in a confrontation while at the fire. The suspect during the confrontation approached the victim and cut his throat with a knife. The victim was rushed to Port Huron Hospital where he passed away from his injuries. During the investigation, the suspect, who had fled the scene, was located at his residence in the 1100 block of 10th Street.
