The U. S. Coast Guard Cutter Bramble, which has called Port Huron home since 2003, has a new owner. Bob and Sara Klingler of Marine City, who purchased the vessel from the Port Huron Museum in 2013, are announcing the sale of the historic ship. According to a press release, Tom Clarke of Roanoke, Virginia will be the new owner of the Bramble. Clark intends on keeping the Bramble in Port Huron for the remainder of the winter and plans to outfit the ship for a trip to Mobile, Alabama where it will undergo renovations at the Clarks Pinto Island Shipyard. Clark says he intends to then sail the ship through the Northwest Passage in 2019, a journey the ship made in 1957. In a statement, Clark says, “We very much want to continue in Bob Klingler’s footsteps of involving the Bramble community in every aspect of the Bramble’s future.”
