It’s expected to be a busy one on the roadways next week as 1.7 million Michiganders will take to the highways for Thanksgiving travel. AAA of Michigan says it’s the most travelers since 2007 and 5 percent increase over last year. This is the ninth year of growth for Thanksgiving travel. Additionally, drivers will be greeted with some of the lowest prices at the pump in recent memory. Gas prices have declined 34 cents in the past 42 days, Michigan gas prices remain 11 cents higher than last Thanksgiving. On average, the price was $2.57 per gallon and has since risen to $2.68. Travelers can expect highways to be congested Monday through Wednesday next week, as well as on Sunday as travelers return home.
