The victim who was killed alongside Interstate 69 Tuesday morning has been identified. According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, 70 year old Lawrence McDaid of Port Huron was killed while standing in a ditch after crashing his vehicle. Authorities tell WPHM slippery conditions resulted in McDavid skidding off the highway and overturning his truck and trailer in a ditch on the north side of the roadway.  His passenger, 67 year old Gary McDaid, also of Port Huron, got out of the vehicle and stood near the truck. An oncoming car operated by an Ontario woman left the roadway in the vicinity of the two, striking Lawrence and Gary McDaid. Lawrence was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, while Gary was taken to McLaren Port Huron Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and the crash remains under investigation.
