Tigers Sweep

The Detroit Tigers swept a double header on Thursday and a three game series in Minnesota, beating the Twins 4-2 in the night cap of a day-night double header.  Detroit pitchers struck out 17 in the game, led by Justin Verlander, who fanned 11 in six innings of work.  Erick Aybar knocked in two runs and scored once to pace the Tigers attack.  Detroit moved a half game ahead of Baltimore and into the final AL playoff spot with ten games to go in the regular season.  The Tigers host Kansas City on Friday night at Comerica Park.
