With summer just around the corner, more kids will be playing outside and more cars will be out on area streets. Port Huron Chief of Public Safety Michael Reaves is concerned at the number of distracted drivers he’s been seeing in the city. He’s thinking about putting a program together to combat the problem, which he says has caused numerous accidents throughout the city. Chief Reaves hopes to have a distracted driving program in place in the next couple of months. The Chief says, if that text or message is so important than pull over and park if it’s that critical. He notes, let’s not have a tragedy in our community. So if you constantly are distracted as you drive; be it your cellphone, radio or whatever the Port Huron Police Department will be looking for you.
