Earth Fair encouraging people to love the planet

Although Earth Day may have been last Friday, this weekend we’ll be celebrating the planet we call home at Goodell’s County Park during the annual Earth Fair. The event wouldn’t be possible without the help of local agencies, such as the St. Clair County Health Department. Sheri Faust with the department spoke on the Paul Miller Morning Show this week about the fair saying the two-day event will feature local vendors, exhibits and activities for the whole family. On Friday over 1,000 local school children will be coming out on field trips, says Faust. She notes that teachers really like it because the fair fits in with their curriculum and the kids are engaged in learning the whole time. Last year, attendance reached over 10,000, their biggest year yet. Faust says they plan on having an even bigger turn out this year. She says they are hoping people learn something new when they come out and change behaviors. Free shuttles are also being provided by Blue Water Area Transit to help fair goers reduce their carbon footprint. So ditch the car and head to the fair by bus at two locations; the Maritiem Center in Port Huron or Vincker Foods in Wadhams. The fair opens at 9am on Friday and 10am on Saturday and runs to 4pm.
