High school students from across the nation, and here in St. Clair County, submitted their works of art to their local congressman for the 2016 Congressional Art Discovery Competition. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors the competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. This week, U.S Representative Candice Miller from Michigan’s 10th District, announced the area winners during a ceremony held at Studio 1219 in Port Huron.Locally, 248 pieces of art work were submitted to U.S. Representative Candice Miller’s Office. Several students from local High schools were honored by Miller for their work and will also be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.
