Port Huron's council received the McMorran Authorities resolution supporting St. Clair County Community College's proposal Monday night. The college's proposal includes 3 million in capital improvements to McMorran Pavilion. The minor hockey association has already submitted their proposal to the council to purchase the property for $100,000. They are concerned that if the college receives the pavilion, that McMorran would no longer be able to house silver sticks, and that minor hockey in our area would be affected. A public hearing will be held on October 26th, to hear comments on both McMorran Pavilion purchase proposals. Also during the meeting the council approved changes to building regulations in the city. Boarding houses in Port Huron will now be limited to 4 rooms and must also have 1 bathroom for each two rooms. Previously boarding houses in Port Huron were allowed to have 10 rooms. City Planner David Haynes says it's a safety concern to have so many people in one home.
