Gas and safety issues

Some residential and commercial natural gas customers in Michigan may be at risk. According to the Michigan Public Service Commission, customers that are connected directly to gas storage fields, transmission pipelines, gathering lines, oil and gas wells, and other facilities might not be compliant with Michigan Gas Safety Standards. The Michigan Public Service Commission issued an inquiry in response to concerns the commission has regarding certain gas service lines in Michigan. Providers have until December 1st to respond to the inquiry, which will help determine the number and location of gas service lines that have safety issues. Once the commission has all the information the number and location of connections will be determined. These connections often occur when a pipeline or storage field operator provides natural gas to a property owner in exchange for paying for a right-of-way or easement across the property.
