Justin Abdelkader scored three goals to pace the Detroit Red Wings in a 4-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in the season opener on Friday night at Joe Louis Arena. Henrik Zetterberg had three assist and Dylan Larkin picked up a goal and an assist in his NHL debut. Jimmy Howard made 22 saves for the shutout. Wings coach Jeff Blashill earned his first NHL victory. Detroit is in Carolina on Saturday night.
