Never ending road work

If you thought that road work was done for the season then you haven't lived long enough in Michigan. The St. Clair County Road Commission is set to begin construction on the Gratiot Road Bridge Today in Columbus Twp., weather permitting. The bridge, which is structurally unsound, is currently load weight restricted. Work includes removal of the old bridge, placing new precast concrete box culvert sections and wing-walls, installing a new guardrail, and rebuilding 100 feet of road approaching the bridge. The signed detour will be Gratiot Rd. to Arlington Rd. to Church Rd. to Division Rd. and back onto Gratiot Rd. During the project the road will remain open to local traffic on either side of the bridge. The nearly $500,000 project is financed by the State of Michigan and the St. Clair County Road Commission. Work is expected to be completed by December 4th.
